Nederlands UM Guesthouse
The UM Guesthouse offers short-term housing with furnished rooms at multiple locations throughout Maastricht. Bachelor, master and exchange students can live in one of the UM Guesthouses. Exchange students who arrive in August and September or in January and February can stay for a minimum period of 3 months with a maximum of 12 month. Bachelor or Master students who arrive in August and September have to stay at least 11 month, a maximum of 12 month. For the Bachelor and Master students arriving in January/February the minimum stay is 6 months, maximum 12 months.
Make a Reservation
The website automatically filters the UM Guesthouse offers that do not apply to your specific student type. Some UM Guesthouse locations are allocated to exchange students, while others are only available for bachelor and/or master students. Due to privacy reasons, it is not possible to have a personal viewing at a UM Guesthouse.
- You will be asked to indicate your exact arrival and departure dates
- Click on the advertisement of interest
- Select the option 'Reserve now' on the right side
Payment
You will now be asked to make a down payment. This down payment equals 30 days of rent and will be used for the last 30 days of your contract. A one-time cleaning fee, €60,-, €75,- or €100,- depending on the room type, is requested as well. The cleaning fee is a mandatory fee, which is used to professionally clean your room before arrival.
After you select a room, you will be automatically redirected to the payment page. Follow the instructions on the screen. We accept the following payment methods:
- iDEAL
- PayPal
- Mastercard
- Visacard
- Bancontact
- GiroPay
- International or domestic bank transfer (Sepa)
The room is not yet reserved until this payment is in our account! Until that time, other students will be able to book the same room. Once the down payment has been processed, you will receive an official confirmation email or you will be notified to make another selection. Only when you received the confirmation email your room has been reserved.
If something goes wrong (e.g. you closed the browser), you can always restart payment via the 'My payments' tab in MyHousing. If you choose the international transfer option, you will then see the bank details.
Room assignment
If someone else booked the room while you were waiting for your payment to be processed, we will convert your down payment into positive credits that can be used to book another available room in a location of your choice. If the Guesthouse UM becomes fully booked while your down payment is in process, we can refund it to you. In that case, the UM Guesthouse will email you with further instructions.
