Housing availability: private proprietors...

New accommodation is made available every day on Maastrichthousing.com by private proprietors and students alike. These include landlords offering single rooms (in-house lodging), realtors mediating between landlords and tenants, or landlords in possession of multiple buildings. These people are referred to as private proprietors and they are often the ones who determine whether you get a room or not.

The entire range of privately rented accommodation is only available to students and staff at UM, the Hogeschool Zuyd and the Jan van Eyck Academy. This range predominantly includes unfurnished accommodations, although most will come with flooring and window coverings. The rental description will specify whether the accommodation is furnished or unfurnished, what facilities are available and whether a down payment is required.

In addition to a description of the available accommodations, you will also have access to tenant or proprietor contact details in order to make an appointment after logging in on MyHousing.

How do I find an accommodation from a private proprietor?
1.
Via your personal search profile. You will receive automatic accommodation updates by email.

2.    By logging in and searching the site based on your personal filter settings.

You must be a member of Maastrichthousing to request a private proprietors phone number or email address. You can only request this information between 9.00 and 21.00 by logging on to the site (MyHousing).

Number of requests Each address will be posted a maximum of ten times per day until the accommodation has been rented. Once this daily maximum has been reached, the information will no longer be made available. You may request the contact information of multiple proprietors every day.

Current availabilities. Once the accommodation has been rented the proprietor will remove it from the site. Although we ask all proprietors to remove their rented accommodations as quickly as possible, this is not always the case. We do our best to keep this to a minimum and thoroughly check availability each day.

Likelihood of finding accommodation. The likelihood of finding suitable accommodation in the private sector largely depends on your requirements (search profile) and the time of year. While Maastrichthousing can never know exactly when new housing will be made available, rental contracts are often terminated one month in advance and are then offered on Maastrichthousing.com. As a rule, it is often more difficult to find housing during the summer months.

Diversity. Given the diverse range of accommodations on the site some of which are located in Belgium and surrounding areas we strongly advise you to read the descriptions and conditions very carefully. These conditions may include gender preferences or age restrictions. A very limited number of accommodations are strictly reserved for Conservatory students.

Please also bear in mind that student houses comprise the majority of our accommodations, each with their own set of housemates and house rules. Given the international character of UM, it is very likely that you will live with people from different countries.

NOTE! Realtors and brokers often charge additional mediation and/or contract costs often totalling one month rent + taxes
